Los Angeles-based composer and music producer Yang Zhang (also known as Zhang Yang), won the best Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre at the 13th Hollywood Music In Media Awards, held at the Avalon in Hollywood on Wednesday, Nov. 16, for her outstanding instrumental music production track “The Lord Of Flame”.
The Hollywood Music In Media Awards™ (HMMA) is the first organization to honor original music (Song and Score) in visual media from around the globe including film, TV, video games, trailers, commercial advertisements, documentaries and special programs, as well as independent artists and music influencers from around the globe for creative and innovative contributions. The HMMA nominations have historically been the best and most reliable indicator of nominees and winners in the music categories of all mainstream awards, including Emmys, Grammys, Golden Globes, and Academy Awards. The HMMA main event features live music performances, celebrity presenters, tributes to music industry icons, awards for composers, songwriters and artists.
“It was a thrilling experience,” Yang Zhang said, “I feel grateful and thankful to be awarded for the most imaginary category. The ideal Sci-Fi music, in my opinion, should deliver the boldest musical message that can freely transfer and blend any musical style without any boundary, and mix with your personalized musical language and taste.” She highlighted her concept in this musical category in her winning speech.
The winning music production track named “The Lord Of Flame” comes from her another winning album “Hard-boiled Wonderland And The End Of Flame”, which won the bronze medal for 2022 Global Music Awards. The whole album pushes the boundary of Sci-fi and Fantasy music genres by depicting an adult version of fairy tale in a modern society. By continuing her musical philosophy of “style blending”, she laced the blended musical flavor mixing the emotions of poetry, boldness, purity while staying edgy and splendid with her futuristic production style. “That is the message I delivered to the Sci-fi/Fantasy genre, a blended poem contrasts all the intensities and sophisticated emotions.” Yang Zhang’s winning musical MTV can be founded here:
Following the release of her successful album “Recall Of The Fallen Empire”, which was nominated for the best instrumental category at 12th Hollywood Music In Media Awards in 2021, this is her second time as a nominee and first time as the winner at HMMA.
