Wisconsinite Gives 50,000 Pieces of Candy to Kids on Halloween

Published on November 11, 2021

Wisconsinites statewide gathered last week to celebrate Halloween. Among them was 19-year-old Ethan Schulteis, a Wisconsin native and YouTube sensation with millions of subscribers across his multiple channels.

Born and raised in Washington County, the content creator leveraged his platform to distribute 50,000 pieces of candy to kids in southeastern Wisconsin. Schulteis documented the experience on his personal channel “Ethan Schulteis,” which currently engages over 21,000 subscribers with vlogs from the YouTuber’s life. This captivating 11-minute video was no exception.

A Halloween to Remember

Schulteis wanted to do something different this Halloween. With kids in his hometown stuck indoors due to COVID-19 in 2020, the YouTuber figured he’d kick things up a notch this year.

His plan exceeded all expectations. With peers and family by his side—including his good friend Nash Merklein—he ordered 50,000 pieces of mouth-watering candy with an estimated worth in the thousands.

Of course, that much candy would be unmanageable without the right container—so Schulteis and his crew filled a pool with the goods, placed it strategically in a local park, and let his followers know what he had planned.

Together, community members joined forces and tried their hand at snagging a piece (or several!) of the vlogger’s candy stash. Though we’ll summarize the specifics below, we can say with certainty that this is a video you won’t want to miss.

Fun for the Whole Family

200 fans of the fall season arrived for a day of action-packed festivities: connecting with Schulteis and stuffing their bags with a whole lot of candy. For a twist on the traditional trick-or-treating experience, the business-savvy teenager placed a spinning wheel beside his candy-filled pool, featuring options labeled “Full Bag,” “One Handful,” and other quantifiers to make the experience more enticing.

The wheel-spinning options didn’t end there. Schulteis also included a “Rock Paper Scissors” option— plus a ghost-themed game where kids could throw a small ghost in a bucket in order to win a full bag of candy!

Creating memorable experiences comes naturally to this content creator, and Halloween 2021 didn’t disappoint. Schulteis’s vlog also showcased a scare prank involving a seven-foot teddy bear costume designed to scare trick-or-treaters (all in good fun, of course). The big event even featured wrist-mounted flamethrowers: impressive devices local kids safely used to roast marshmallows and cook hotdogs.

Though Halloween is over, and Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, there’s no denying that Schulteis curated a spooky experience to remember. Kids in the area are still talking about how the day more than compensated for the isolation of 2020. Talk about coming back with a splash!

Spotlight on Wisconsinite Ethan Schulteis

With over 1,000,000 subscribers on his channel “The Amagi,” Schulteis is among the first Wisconsin YouTubers to have received the platform’s celebrated Gold Play Button. When he’s not vlogging or reviewing fictional worlds on his own accounts, you can find him partnering with big brands like Frederator Media: the studio behind hits like “Adventure Time” and “The Fairly Oddparents.”

Having recently rebranded his main channel with a new logo and video graphics, Schulteis is also connecting with viewers through his spinoff channel “The Amagi 2,” which focuses on live action rather than anime.

And then of course, there’s his personal channel. From exploring the best the Wisconsin Dells have to offer, to creating a dream Halloween experience like we described above, this local YouTuber knows how to have a good time—and he isn’t afraid to share that skill with the masses.
