United States Denounces UN Conference on Two-State Solution

United States rejects a two-state solution conference

Published on July 29, 2025

In a significant diplomatic stance, the United States has announced its decision to withdraw from a UN-hosted conference focused on the contentious two-state solution, scheduled to take place in New York City this week. Officials have labeled the event as unproductive and ill-timed, arguing that it threatens to undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the regional conflict.

Secretary of State Rubio condemned the conference as a “publicity stunt” that risks prolonging hostilities and rewarding terrorist actions. He emphasized that such gatherings are counterproductive, stating, “This effort is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7th and a reward for terrorism.” The Secretary expressed concern that the conference could serve to entrench further hostile groups like Hamas rather than foster an environment conducive to peace, keeping hostages in jeopardy, and diverting attention from serious negotiations.

The U.S. government continues to prioritize genuine diplomatic engagement aimed at achieving a sustainable peace in the region, distancing itself from what it views as “stage-managed conferences” that create a false appearance of progress.

Adding fuel to the fire, recent remarks by French President Macron regarding the recognition of a Palestinian state have been met with approval from Hamas. U.S. officials see this as yet another misguided gesture that could embolden militant factions, further complicating efforts for a ceasefire and prolonging the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

As tensions escalate, the U.S. remains committed to leading efforts that prioritize real-world solutions, aiming to alleviate suffering, secure the release of hostages, and foster a more hopeful future for the Middle East.
