The La Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes (UNIANDES), on the 20th of November, bestowed an honorary doctorate of education on His Excellency Ambassador Otto Federico von Feigenblatt for his many contributions to education in the South American region. Her Excellency Dr. Corona Gomez Armijo, Vice Rector and Co-founder of the institution, presided over the solemn ceremony, which was held at the main campus in Ambato. His Excellency Ambassador Otto Federico von Feigenblatt is the third person to receive an honorary doctorate from this prestigious research-intensive university. The other two people to have received honorary doctorates from UNIANDES are His Excellency Daniel Noboa, the sitting President of the Republic of Ecuador, and His Excellency Dr. Pablo Beltran, President of the Higher Education Council.
Dr. Corona Gomez Armijo delivered a very moving speech about His Excellency’s contributions to education in the region and on a global scale, such as the promotion of student mobility, high-quality research, and educational policymaking. Ambassador von Feigenblatt accepted the honorary doctorate with humility and dedicated the accolade to his “students, past, present, and future…”
Ambassador Otto Federico von Feigenblatt is a well-known academic and diplomat who is currently serving as Andean Parliament Special Envoy and as a senior advisor accredited to UNESCO.
