Marcus Hill, Vice Chair for the Board of Directors for the Senior Executives Association (SEA)–representing the interests of over 8,000 career federal executives in the Senior Executive Service (SES), Senior Level (SL), Scientific and Professional (ST) and equivalent positions and other senior career federal leaders, including our General Schedule members (GS 12-15)–released the following statement reacting to President Biden’s 2022 Presidential Rank Awardees:

“SEA enthusiastically applauds the 233 President Rank Awardees from over 30 agencies. The success of these leaders reflects the success of our nation. When federal leaders can enact meaningful change and lead their agencies to achievement, the American people have their needs met as a result,” Hill said. “We also applaud President Biden for recognizing excellence in career leadership. Shining a light on the positive impact of career Senior Executives ensures the American people know the hard work that goes into guaranteeing equal access to government services, and that the government is responsive to the needs of the nation. At the end of the day, Senior Executives don’t do their job for the pay or the recognition, they do it for the American people. These Awardees send a powerful and encouraging message to the rest of the workforce that demonstrated success and sustained commitment to leadership has impactful results for the American people.”

“We urge the President to personally meet with the winners to hear about their experiences. These leaders have done incredible work through various constraints and, for many, with limited resources. Their ability to work through these conditions can be a model for what government can achieve when career leadership excellence is valued,” Hill concluded.
