GEORGE TOWN – In celebration of the arrival of the month of Zulhijjah, which marks the end of Syawal, the non-governmental organization (NGO), ROSE Charities Malaysia, organized the Launch Ceremony of 1000 Cheers & Smiles. The event also included special hamper donations for the lowest 40 percent income families (B40) and homeless individuals in the island state of Pinang.

The ceremony took place at Quantum Metal near Jalan Residensi and was graced by the presence of Y.A.Bhg. Mrs. Tan Lean Kee, the wife of the Chief Minister.

During her speech, Mrs. Tan Lean Kee commended the noble efforts of ROSE Charities Malaysia in providing assistance to the underprivileged in the state.

“I would like to congratulate the NGO members and the sponsors who have worked tirelessly to make this project a success, fulfilling their corporate social responsibility (CSR). This responsibility extends not only to NGOs but also to the surrounding community,” she said at the ceremony held on May 21, 2023.

Also in attendance were the President of ROSE Charities Malaysia, Datuk Lawrence Cheah Seong Phaik, Chairman of Quantum Metal Review, Dato Lim Khong Soon, and several sponsors.

Furthermore, Mrs. Tan Lean Kee, who is also the President of Pertubuhan Wanita Mutiara (PWM), called upon other NGOs to come forward and offer any form of assistance.

“As we all know, NGOs have made a positive impact not only on individuals but also on the entire community. Therefore, I urge other NGOs to step up and contribute to the well-being of the struggling community,” she added.

Mutiara Bulletin understands that the recipients include single mothers, child welfare associations, religious organizations, and homeless individuals, including rickshaw pullers.
