Qatar-Based Fintech Receipts Pioneers Seamless Retail-Banking Integration Ahead of Regional Expansion

Published on April 10, 2024

Receipts, a Qatar-based retail fintech company, is pioneering a new approach to transactional data. Co-founded by Thuraya Nasser Al-Mulla, Receipts is leading the initiative to provide parties access to spending receipts data, enabling better customer understanding and improving overall customer experience.

Qatar’s New Digital Transaction Era

Receipts’ inventive platform seamlessly integrates with banking applications to ensure that transactions and receipts are easily accessible to customers in Qatar. “We are on the verge of a partnership with a prominent regional bank, signaling a substantial stride toward reshaping the retail and banking sectors.” Al-Mulla shares with anticipation.

The company’s efforts streamline the reconciliation process for retailers and offer customers a frictionless post-purchase experience by eliminating paper receipts. “Our primary aim is to empower banks and retailers with advanced capabilities to access spending receipts data. By harnessing this valuable information, they can gain profound insights into their customers’ behaviors and preferences,” Al-Mulla explains.

Elevating Retail with Secure, Eco-Friendly Tech

Receipts distinguishes itself through its vision to create bank-grade technology that prioritizes security, data anonymization, and customer convenience. “Our platform is equipped with high-tech systems, fraud checks, and integrated with accounting software, offering one-touch loyalty programs with cashbacks, offers, and promotions, ” Al-Mulla mentions.

This method solves a critical problem for big chain retailers and industries reliant on paper receipts by digitizing the current proof of purchase experience and enhancing marketing capabilities.

Ghanim Khalid Al-Khelaifi elaborates that transitioning to smart receipts is a simple and effective way to reduce environmental footprint. It addresses the urgent need for sustainable alternatives, as evidenced by a comprehensive study of his restaurant “the great potential of Receipts to revolutionise the receipt process in the region-wide F&B industry. The implementation of Receipts in our restaurants will not only showcase improved operational efficiency, enhanced customer experience, and a positive impact on environmental sustainability but position the country on leading technology and sustainability in all industries” Al-Khelaifi, Partner at Receipts adds with anticipation and looks forward to incorporating Receipts technology into his restaurants to revolutionise operations.

The impact of Receipts’ technology is already being felt across the industry, with major retail chains and banks exploring its solutions. “We are studying and launching partnerships with major retail chains in the region, alongside other retailers in the luxury and food and beverage sectors that expand from Qatar to the UK,” Al-Mulla notes, emphasising the company’s expanding client base.

Receipts’ Strategic Moves in the Global Fintech Arena

The company’s participation in the Web Summit Qatar 2024 last February further demonstrates its leadership in initiating sustainable fintech solutions. This also highlights Al-Mulla’s dedication to reshaping sustainable consumerism across the finance, retail, and luxury sectors by promoting smart and paperless proof of purchase.

Receipts stood out as the sole fintech company representing the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at the summit led by a Qatari woman founder. The Qatar Foundation also recognized the company’s exceptional contributions and success in fintech with innovation awards.

Fast forward to today, as Receipts prepares for its imminent launch, the company remains focused on enhancing and improving the customer experience. “We aim to make banking apps a daily destination for customers and provide a smooth experience that goes beyond traditional transactions,” Al-Mulla states.

Receipts is set for global expansion, with plans to extend its services and solutions beyond Qatar to the MENA region, France, and the UK. Despite facing competition, Receipts remains committed to its vision of leading the digital transformation in retail and banking through its progressive technology and visionary leadership.

A Connected Future in Retail and Banking

As Receipts prepares to take its innovative solutions to the global stage, its role in transforming the retail fintech sector becomes increasingly clear.

Al-Mulla’s leadership actively shapes the future of retail fintech one digital receipt at a time. She sees the company’s evolution as an exemplification of inventive breakthroughs, enduring resolve, and persistent excellence. “Our work goes beyond product development to redefining the future of retail and finance.”

Through its pioneering technology and visionary leadership, Receipts is crafting a future where transactions are more than just financial exchanges—they are opportunities to connect, understand, and serve customers better, all while significantly impacting the environment.
