The composition of several of these bioactive compounds, primarily flavonoids and non-flavonoid phenolics is related to these positive health effects. Numerous tropical fruits, including mango, pineapple, and bananas, as well as cocoa and avocado, contain a lot of these compounds and catechins.

Eating organic tropical fruits and vegetables is more beneficial than we think. With all the vitamins and minerals that organic tropical fruits like Lemons, Longans, Mangoes, Passion Fruit, Pineapples and Bananas offer, you should consider adding them to your diet. And, according to many cancer studies, tropical fruits are filled with nutrients that may help with controlling blood pressure and possibly even lowering the risk of cancer and heart disease.

Here are some examples of healthy organic tropical fruits:

  1. Bananas

This popular tropical fruit packs a serious nutritional punch, loaded with vitamins A, B, C and potassium. They also contain an amino acid called tryptophan— a compound that improves the mood. Unique tropical bananas, like ice cream bananas, Tahi bananas, etc., are especially sweet and are mostly available year-round.

  1. Pineapples

Fresh tropical pineapples are a tasty treat full of vitamin C, but furthermore aids metabolism because it contains a protein- digesting enzyme called bromelain. Pineapples may be eaten raw, but grilled or cooked are equally as delicious. If you marinate with pineapples the acid in the fruit will rapidly break down the proteins in meats and seafood, and therefore, limit your marinating time when using pineapple.

  1. Coconuts

First of all, coconut water is an excellent source of potassium and ideal for hydration in tropical climates. There are plenty of coconuts to be found lying around your neighborhood in south Florida. The inner meat of the fruit contains a host of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Also, the fat in the body meat is high in fatty acids that control inflammation, and it also reduces the risk of heart disease.

  1. Mangoes

Mangoes are high in vitamin C, vitamin A and a load of cancer fighting antioxidants. The fruit can be eaten fresh, ripe off the tree, or made into a range of desserts and jellies. Mangoes come from all over the world.  However, Florida is the mango capital of the world due to the natural cross breeding with mangoes people have brought with them from their original homelands.  There are hundreds of varieties to choose from and they are all unique. As we have planted multiple cultures and unique varieties, we have plenty of mangoes available. You’ll find your favorite in one of our Organic Fruit Gift Baskets.

  1. Starfruit

Carambola or starfruit has one of lowest calorie content among tropical fruits. It is high in vitamin C, phytonutrients, fiber, B-complex vitamins and has small amounts of sodium, calcium, and zinc. On a hot summer day, they make a great replacement for water.  In fact, they are mostly “structured” water, like the hydrating water found in coconuts, with many other hydrating properties. The crunchy fruit should be eaten fresh.  However, you can make martinis with them or bake a dessert tart.

  1. Avocado

Yes, Avocadoes are a fruit and they are high in good fat and can be eaten raw in salad or used to make a shake as a thickening agent. They are also a great replacement in most recipes for unhealthy mayonnaise. Avocados are packed with potassium, vitamin C, E and B supplements as well as omega 3 fatty acids. Avocadoes are good for folks with kidney problems and many other ailments. They are a powerful organic tropical fruit that staves off heart disease and lowers cholesterol.

  1. Papaya

Another benefit of eating organic tropical fruits is the weight loss they promote. One tropical fruit with a high fiber content is Papaya. Digestive function is enhanced by the enzymes which are prominent in Papaya.  And, because fiber-rich diets keep blood sugar low and steadily release calories into the bloodstream, you don’t store fat and instead burn energy over the course of several hours.  Coincidentally, papaya is linked to weight loss and overall superior body function.
