NeoTerrex Minerals Positioned for Growth Amid North America’s Rare Earths Revival

Published on September 06, 2025

As global demand for clean energy, defense technology, and advanced electronics accelerates, rare earth elements (REEs) have become critical to securing the future of key industries. NeoTerrex Minerals Inc. (TSXV: NTX), a junior exploration company based in Quebec, is strategically advancing its projects in the mining-friendly jurisdiction.

A Strategic Leap in Critical Minerals

Rare earth elements—17 minerals including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium—are indispensable to technologies ranging from electric vehicles and wind turbines to smartphones and fighter jets. With China currently supplying over 80% of the global market, Western nations are moving quickly to secure and diversify supply chains.

One of the leading players in this effort is MP Materials Corp., owner and operator of the Mountain Pass mine in California—the only fully integrated rare earth mining and processing operation in North America. In July 2025, MP secured a US$400 million equity investment from the U.S. Department of Defense and a ten-year price floor commitment for neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) oxide. Shortly afterward, Apple committed US$500 million to purchase U.S.-sourced rare earth magnets from MP. These developments, alongside a US$650 million public equity offering led by JPMorgan Securities and Goldman Sachs, propelled MP’s valuation beyond US$10 billion.

Closing the Heavy Rare Earth Gap

While Mountain Pass is rich in light rare earth elements (LREEs), it has limited heavy rare earth elements (HREEs) such as dysprosium and terbium—vital for high-performance applications that require heat resistance and durability. Securing reliable HREE sources is now a strategic priority for North America.

This is where Canada’s Strange Lake deposit, owned by Torngat Metals, plays a central role. Recognized as one of the most advanced HREE projects on the continent, Strange Lake is supported by C$165 million in funding from Export Development Canada and the Canada Infrastructure Bank. Located in a stable jurisdiction with mining-friendly policies, it is set to reshape the region’s rare earth ecosystem.

NeoTerrex Minerals: A Key Junior Explorer

NeoTerrex Minerals holds two rare earth projects in Quebec, including its flagship Galactic project just 40 kilometres from the proposed Strange Lake processing facility in Sept-Îles. Early exploration in 2024 revealed promising HREE mineralization, prompting the company to expand its land package into areas with similar geological features to Strange Lake. This positions NeoTerrex to benefit from both regional infrastructure and growing market demand.

With supportive legislation such as Canada’s Bill C-5 aimed at accelerating critical mineral project permitting, and Torngat’s plans for a processing hub offering hydroelectric power, deepwater port access, and rail connectivity, the region is primed for long-term development.

Driving Energy Independence

The alignment of private capital, government investment, and geopolitical necessity is creating unprecedented momentum in North America’s rare earth sector. MP Materials is strengthening the U.S. supply chain, Strange Lake is advancing as a top HREE producer, and NeoTerrex is strategically placed to capture new opportunities.

Together, these developments represent a coordinated effort to advance clean energy technologies, secure supply chain independence, and reduce reliance on Chinese-controlled resources.
