Graphic Designer Spotlight: Sayoung Kim

Sayoung Kim is a talented and highly sought-after graphic designer artist whose impressive client list includes Cuckoo Electronics America and AG Studios NYC. Building on her experience as a graphic designer in her native country of South Korea, Ms. Kim holds a masters’ degree in Brand Design Management. As an expert in her field, Ms. Kim is adept at communicating ideas through text and images, making her an asset to brands and companies looking to gain a competitive advantage in their market.

Ms. Kim’s many strengths in Multimedia art include animation, audio, interactivity, still images, text, and video. Thanks to her impressive achievements, Ms. Kim has been recognized through several awards and honors. Among these are the Special Selection Prize at the Korean Industrial Artists’ Association 49th Industrial Art Nationwide Contest and its 50th Industrial Art Nationwide Contest Samwon Scholarship Fund Award; and the Judge Selection Prize, Gallery Iang, at the SOKI International Design & Illustration Competition.

Already highly accomplished in her field, Kim has collaborated with leading professionals, including Jiyeon Park, a well-recognized graphic designer who has worked with major brands such as LG and 69 Slam; South Korean Art curator and Artist Hyejin Yoon; and pop artist Hojin who possesses more than 20 years of experience teaching and exhibitions in South Korea and around the world.

An active member of her professional community, Sayoung is a member of The Korean Design Trend Research Association, the representative scholastic association in Korea’s design area, which publishes the Korean Design Forum, a scholastic journal. Her work has been featured internationally by Asia News Agency, Naver TV (Korea’s Google), MK, JobKorea, Welldone, and Seoul Design Festival Magazine.

Sayoung Kim is an internationally recognized, award-winning graphic artist whose work spans South Korea and the United States for leading brands such as Cuckoo Electronics America, AG Studios NYC, and The Korea Times (Los Angeles). Over the course of her career, Ms. Kim has been lauded for her excellence at contests and competitions worldwide.

She was awarded the Special Selection Prize by the Korea Design Trend Research Society (2014); Special Selection Prize at the 33rd Grand Art Exhibition of Korea (2014); Finalist at the AD STARS 2014 Busan National Advertisement Contest; and the Special Selection Prize at the Korean Industrial Artists’ Association 49th Industrial Art Nationwide Contest. Ms. Kim is constantly in demand for collaboration in her field and has worked with highly accomplished individuals in the design industry.

These include notable Korean pop artist Hojin, whose work is often displayed in major museums and TV shows in leading South Korean channels; Graphic designer and art director Jaemin Lee, a graduate of Seoul National University and founder of studio fnt, whose work has been featured in exhibitions such as Korea: Design + Poster (Munich, Germany), Typojanchi 2015: The 4th International Typography Biennale (Seoul, South Korea), Weltformat 15 (Luzern, Switzerland) and Korea Now! Craft, Design, Fashion and Graphic Design in Korea (Paris, France); and Hyejin Yoon, an art curator, and artist working with art galleries throughout South Korea.

Sayoung’s extensive technical skills include proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, After Effects, and Dreamweaver), Web Development (HTML, CSS, and WordPress), QuarkXPress, and Lightroom. Ms. Kim’s career has received international press coverage by news and professional publications, including Welldone, Asia News Agency, Naver TV, MK, JobKorea, and Seoul Design Festival Magazine.
