TENNOZ ART WEEK will feature programs primarily targeting VIPs attending the Tokyo Gendai art fair. Highlights include a new installation performance by Tomoko Mukaiyama, an exhibition by the Contemporary Art Dealers Association Nippon (CADAN), and a night-time operation at TERRADA ART COMPLEX, one of Japan’s largest gallery complexes. This collaboration between Tokyo Gendai and the Tennoz art district aims to create a dynamic and engaging experience for domestic and international art scenes.

The organizers have prepared programs that allow art collectors visiting Tokyo Gendai to explore and enjoy the Tennoz art district.

Tomoko Mukaiyama’s new installation performance titled “figurante” stands out among the programs. Mukaiyama, an internationally recognized pianist based in Amsterdam, creates multidisciplinary works exploring themes of physicality, gender, memory, and rituals. The performance blurs the line between the stage and the audience, inviting viewers to become part of the artistic experience.

Another program is WHAT MUSEUM, a collector’s contemporary art museum operated by Warehouse TERRADA. The museum will offer guided tours of its exhibitions, providing an exclusive opportunity for program participants to explore Japanese contemporary art. Additionally, ARCHI-DEPOT, which houses over 600 architectural models, will be open for visitors. WHAT MUSEUM will extend its opening hours until 9:00 PM during TENNOZ ART WEEK.

CADAN: Gendai Bijutsu 2023, organized by the Contemporary Art Dealers Association Nippon, will feature solo exhibitions by artists from member galleries. This collaborative effort aims to showcase the diversity of contemporary art and highlight prominent artists and galleries in Japan.

Other programs include a workshop at PIGMENT TOKYO, where participants can create a painting using pure gold leaf, and TERRADA ART COMPLEX’s “TAC GALLERY NIGHT,” allowing visitors to explore various galleries and enjoy the art scene in Japan. Additionally, the visionary artistic collective WOW will hold an exhibition and project light-based images onto the sails of T-LOTUS M.
