Vietnam has diverse landscapes, ranging from bustling cities to serene countryside and breathtaking mountains to stunning beaches. While popular destinations such as Halong Bay, Hoian Ancient Town, and Phu Quoc Island continue to attract thousands of visitors each year, there are many lesser-known places that offer pristine scenic beauty and untouched nature. These places are hidden gems that few international travelers have heard of; some of them are even little-known by locals. This article will take you to the top 9 beautiful yet lesser-known places in Vietnam that tourists must visit. By exploring these hidden gems, travelers can enjoy the benefits of untouched nature, pristine beauty, and a peaceful atmosphere without crowds of tourists who often flock to more well-known attractions.

If you come to Bac Kan, a northeast province of Vietnam, 2300km north of Hanoi, Ba Be Lake is a must-visit destination you should not miss. Nature gifted a gem to this remote province: a scenic and peaceful lake that will give you a pleasant vibe and a lifetime experience.
With over 23,000 hectares, this lake is considered the largest lake in Vietnam and is listed among the 16 most beautiful lakes in the world. The lake is actually made of 3 smaller lakes connected through a system of wide channels, about 8 km in length.
Ba Be Lake does not stand alone. It is a part of Ba Be National Park, home to diverse flora and fauna, including rare species such as the Tonkin snub-nosed monkey and the white-winged wood duck. Visitors can explore the park’s scenic trails and discover hidden waterfalls, stunning caves, and traditional ethnic minority villages.
To reach Ba Be Lake, travelers can take a 4-hour drive from Hanoi, passing through beautiful countryside landscapes and charming villages.
