The award received over 1,000 entries from Japan and overseas, and after careful deliberation, the chosen finalists are:

Diverse Artistic Approaches

  • Mitsuo Kim presents an installation featuring a melting red wax canoe, symbolizing departure, hope, and peace.
  • Yuma Tomiyasu explores shifting perspectives and dimensions through immersive installations and paintings.
  • Yuki Harada delves into the concept of returning to oneself through the reenactment of emigrants’ experiences.
  • Satoshi Murakami examines the issue of “outline” in drawing, memory, and fabrication.
  • yang02 explores the notion of understanding art through the imitation of past behaviors.

Each artist brings a fresh perspective and unique artistic expression to the exhibition.

Recognition and Awards

During the exhibition’s opening, the finalists were awarded by the esteemed final jury, consisting of Takahiro Kaneshima, Yuki Terase, Daito Manabe, Yukie Kamiya, and Meruro Washida.

Additionally, each finalist received a cash prize of 3,000,000 yen to support the production of their artwork and an opportunity to exhibit their works at one of Warehouse TERRADA’s facilities.

Exhibition Details

The TERRADA ART AWARD 2023 Finalist Exhibition runs from January 10th to January 28th, 2024, at Warehouse TERRADA G3-6F in Tennoz, Tokyo. The exhibition is open every day from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last admission at 5:30 PM.

Admission is free, and no reservation is required. Visitors can immerse themselves in the creative environment while exploring the works of the five talented finalists.
