Bay Street Theater lit up Sag Harbor on Saturday, August 2, with the opening night of Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical, launching a bold and thrilling new chapter in its 2025 Mainstage Season. Directed by Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, this stripped-down revival breathes new life into the infamous tale of America’s most iconic outlaw lovers, Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
With a cast of ten and a raw, minimalist set designed by Anna Louizos, the production focuses on intimacy and emotion, amplifying the musical’s central themes of love, rebellion, and desperation. Featuring a genre-bending score by Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Don Black, and a book by Ivan Menchell, the musical pulses with the sounds of blues, gospel, and rockabilly.
The cast includes standout performances from Amy Bodnar, Gisela Adisa, Nick Bailey, and Lyda Jade Harlan, with choreography by Emily Maltby and costumes by Ashley Soliman. Behind the scenes, the talented creative team includes lighting designer Mike Billings, sound designer Jon Weston, music director Noah Teplin, and projection designer Michael Salvatore Commendatore.
Opening night welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of theater lovers and notable guests. In attendance were Bay Street trustees Lynn Mestel, Steve Todrys, David Fink, John Frawley, Wendy Hashmall, Keith Green, and Stewart F. Lane, alongside celebrated guests including Christie Brinkley, Donna Karan, Tony winner Bonnie Comley, playwright Ivan Menchell, Broadway director Walter Bobbie, and RKO Studios’ Ted Hartley.
Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical runs through August 24, with performances Tuesday through Sunday, including evening and select matinee shows. Tickets are available at baystreet.org or by calling the box office at 631-725-9500.
