All Ages of Geek, Patreon, Anime Reactions and How Two Geeky Sisters Have Changed the Meaning of ‘Geek’

Published on June 21, 2022

All Ages of Geek is by the geek for the geek. For years, patrons of All Ages of Geek on YouTube and Patreon have enjoyed the hilarious, loud but analytical reactions and reviews to anime, movies, and TV shows. Some patrons consider All Ages of Geek to be a rare find or “gem” (as the sisters call specific underrated shows) due to being flooded by a wave of YouTube Reactors but still fighting the algorithm on their own.

As an LLC, All Ages of Geek has many responsibilities and struggles. Their entire company is funded by the crowdfunding site Patreon which gives them the flexibility and freedom to create how they and their audience see fit.

“We always market our Patreon as a subscription-based platform where patrons get over hundreds of videos per month.” Katya Stec mentioned this when talking about the logistics of All Ages of Geek’s Patreon. “We are always filming at a constant rate. Sometimes we don’t stop until 11 PM or start at 3 AM. No matter what it is, we are always working. We don’t grow as fast as some reactors do, due to our niche-based content but we don’t like taking shortcuts.”

This is one reason why All Ages of Geek, the daughter company of Stec Studio, is now a Patreon Ambassador. Under Patreon’s wing, the Creator Ambassador Program “brings together creators of all kinds who are building incredible communities on Patreon”.The program team includes Jane Nadaraja and Travis Morningstar, two incredible employees of Patreon. This program allows creators to chat with the Patreon team in a closer manner, receive advice on how to benefit from Patreon page growth, potential collaboration with other creators, and get the best experience on Patreon as a creator.

All Ages of Geek became a part of that ambassador program not just due to their website and growing community, but due to being that rare find on the internet. Let’s discuss.

There are thousands of reaction channels on YouTube from group reactions to solo, hundreds of thousands that go viral overnight. While All Ages of Geek has had some hit reactions such as their “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” Reaction hitting over one million views, or their “Arcane” and “The Legend of Vox Machina” Reactions bringing in a sea of support, it’s surprising not many people have discovered this duo yet.

So what makes All Ages of Geek stand out? As a sister duo with an opposite dynamic both Katya Stec and Tatiana Stec bring something different to the YouTube Reaction table. It’s just that, they bring a discussion to the table like they call it “bringing conversations back to the dinner table”. While not at a dinner table (though that would be great as a reaction series), and doing most reactions on the comfort of their studio couch, the sisters talk to the audience not at them. They discuss unbiased opinions, keep discussions open and give honest/real reactions. They also do very niche-based reactions like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and anime reactions from the 1980s.

“We create content for anyone who needs a friend to watch shows with. Whether we’re laughing, crying, or getting shocked silly about a huge show reveal we do this, we react, so people who need a friend will enjoy shows together with us as just two crazy sisters on a couch!”

All Ages of Geek has been on Patreon for years providing interactive content for their audience. Content includes reactions to shows like “Dragon Ball Z”, “Game of Thrones”, “One Piece” and movies like “Star Wars” or cult classics like “An American Werewolf in London”.

“In 2021 Patreon approached us with the idea of becoming a Patreon Ambassador.” Tatiana Stec stated, excited to express her views on being included in the program. “It’s amazing to finally see our hard work pay off after so many years.”

All Ages of Geek is utilizing their Patreon Ambassadorship as a way to interview other creators, help spread their story, and also find new ways to grow their audience. This form of community and “uniting the geeks” is what makes All Ages of Geek what it is today. For many reactors on YouTube, they have grown their Patreon pages to thousands of supporters overnight due to the favoritism of the YouTube Algorithm (as many have expressed in the past). All Ages of Geek is one channel that, while not in any circle of Reaction Groups, still strives to grow to support their humble cause as creators.

“There’s a huge circle of reactors that support each other and give each other tips and tricks to beat out the YouTube Algorithm. It’s like that scene in Mean Girls or Kamen Rider Fourze when the main character walks into a cafeteria and sees all the cliques. We’ve tried to fit in with them but it never clicked. Usually, we’ve been ignored or we didn’t fit the “standard” these reactors had to join their group. It’s like high school but we didn’t take a shortcut. You know how Mean Girls ends right?”

Katya and Tatiana Stec expressed their gratitude to Patreon stating: “We were very thrilled to hear that Patreon wanted us to be part of their program. Not only do we get to know their team on a personal level but they have been very helpful in what we should do to improve our page in the best way possible. This program is an amazing way to learn more and also grow an amazing and supportive community. Our goal is to create a safe space for those who may feel alone in the world and Patreon is helping us day by day.”

All Ages of Geek also has a Discord Server where patrons and nonpatrons can interact. Free of cost Discord is a great way the sister duo has interacted with their audience, from polls, text chats, and live events.

“Events have been put on hold due to living situations and reorganization of community roles, but within the year we hope to come back in with lots of positive vibes and energy.” Events are hosted by Discord Moderators and include games such as Among Us or GMod. Sometimes they are even hosted as random chats where the All Ages of Geek audience geeks out together.

Patreon has brought together the All Ages of Geek community in a way they never imagined.

“It’s one reason we are so thankful for Patreon. They gave us our dream job, support us through and through, and help us unite the geeks of all ages.”
