A Celebration of Autumn and Altruism: The Central Park Conservancy Women’s Committee Fall Luncheon

Women’s Committee of Central Park Conservancy hosts successful Fall Luncheon, celebrating philanthropy and community

Published on October 12, 2025

Under a crisp blue October sky, the Women’s Committee of the Central Park Conservancy gathered to celebrate its cherished Fall Luncheon—a hallmark of the city’s philanthropic and social calendar. The annual event, held this year across four mid-Park locations, brought together over 500 guests, including philanthropists, civic leaders, and longtime supporters, for an afternoon that perfectly captured the spirit of New York in autumn: vibrant, elegant, and full of purpose.

Beneath a canopy of golden and crimson leaves, tables were dressed in seasonal florals and set with artfully prepared boxed luncheons. The atmosphere shimmered with conversation and camaraderie, as wine and mocktails flowed and guests shared stories of their enduring love for Central Park. The afternoon was as much a tribute to friendship and community as it was to one of the world’s most beloved green spaces.

The Women’s Committee, now 1,000 members strong, plays a vital role in sustaining Central Park through its fundraising and volunteer efforts. Since its founding in 1983, the Committee has raised more than $200 million for the Park’s general operations and landmark restoration projects. Its philanthropic impact can be seen throughout the Park—from the reconstruction of the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center to the two-time renovation of Safari Playground, the re-creation of the historic urns at Bow Bridge, and the ongoing restoration of the Conservatory Garden.

This year’s luncheon served as both a celebration of the season and a testament to the power of collective generosity. The event reminded attendees that Central Park is not only a scenic refuge but also a shared civic masterpiece, reliant on the care and commitment of those who love it most.

Among the distinguished guests were Central Park Conservancy President Betsy Smith, Women’s Committee President Tracey Huff, and past co-chairs Gillian Miniter, Fe Fendi, Sharon Jacob, Jenny Price, Stephanie Hessler, Rankia Cohen, Bonnie Comley, and Margo Nederlander. Their continued leadership exemplifies the Committee’s guiding philosophy—that when passion meets purpose, extraordinary things can happen.

As the afternoon sun filtered through the trees, guests departed with full hearts and renewed dedication to the Park’s preservation. The Fall Luncheon once again proved that philanthropy, when paired with the beauty of nature and the fellowship of friends, can make New York shine just a little brighter.
