Treating customers well is something that pays off in the long run when you run a business.
As an entrepreneur, sales and marketing expert, Deimira Paa Baidoo is aware of the value of customer service and has taken extensive action in his own business to ensure that his customers are happy.
When Deimira started his career, he was fascinated by sales and marketing. His knowledge of the sales processes grew, and with it, his knowledge of people.
One of the most important tips Deimira has for business owners is to, “put yourself in the customer’s shoes.”
The next step is to, “give them what you genuinely believe they will need.”
By looking after the interests of your customers, you ensure that they do more than just buy from you. They will turn into repeat customers, keeping your business alive and healthy. In fact, the key to growing a business is repeat customers.
“Selling in my opinion is all about what you genuinely believe will be helpful to the end buyer,” says Deimira.
Before Deimira Paa Baidoo would integrate his customer service and sales experience into his own entrepreneurial ventures, he had the chance to hone his talents as a banker in 2004.
“I was just a mere banker and when I left around 2007, I became a mortgage specialist.”
This is when Deimira says it was imperative to build relationships in order to sell his services.
Another tip Deimira Baidoo has for business owners or anybody trying to sell a service is to ensure that you are providing them with the best service possible. By continuing to audit your services as a business owner, and by tweaking and improving your product, you can optimize the customer experience and make them happy.
According to Deimira, one of the easiest ways to develop a great product or service and to continue to grow and expand on its excellence is to genuinely understand what your customers’ needs are.
“Most of the time, many businesses focus on the bottom line and that’s it. But I believe that when you want to scale, the best way to do it is to look at what your customers’ needs are and find a way to provide them in the best way possible.
“Let’s say you have a pharmacy shop and you want to tailor your products. You need to understand who your customers are in your area. Look around and understand the people that are living in those apartments. Are they older folks? Are they younger folks? What kind of needs do they have?”
Once you know what your customers want, you need to work hard to come up with solutions, and you must find a way to implement them seamlessly amid the many other tasks you may have on the go as a business owner.
Deimira Baidoo says one of the best investments you can make in your business is in the customer experience.
“If you don’t have the love, if you don’t have the belief, if you don’t have the patience, if you don’t have the tenacity to meet the needs of your customers, then honestly, you don’t have any reason to be in that kind of business.”
