Ontario College of Management and Technology Redesigns Postsecondary Education From Conventional to Skills-Based

The COVID-19 virus has impacted many different industries, including the education sector. Most colleges and universities had transitioned their programs online to adjust to the new realities. The OCMT – Toronto-based college is no exception, but aside from transferring full-time programs online, the post-secondary and skills-based institution have started offering short-term, career-transition online certificate programs to help those seeking a new career path during the tough period and who simply don’t have the time and resources to enroll in a full-time program.

“We want to bridge the gap between the post-secondary degree and the industry’s skills requirements. Our mission is to get young professionals ready for the competitive job market and work environment by giving them the combination of skills and knowledge the employers are currently looking for.” – says Yomi Olalere, OCMT’s founder.

OCMT offers specialized and career-driven programs in management and technology, especially those in Business Administration, Cybersecurity and Intelligence Engineering, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, and many more specialized high-tech programs however, the certificate programs include also business management programs that vary in the skill levels and prior experience. There are currently more than 20 different shorter duration programs, including Corporate Leadership, Oracle Database, Java, Enterprise Business Analysis, Enterprise Data Warehousing, SAP, Financial Analysis, and more.

Most Certificate programs are average of 30 hours in length and cost effective. To accommodate attendees’ schedule needs, classes are offered on a flexible self-paced or instructor-led. The following class schedules are currently running: five days a week, four weekends, four evening hours per day for two weeks.
