Adam Eid Ramsey, MD Elected to NYSAFP Board of Directors

Adam Eid Ramsey, MD, a physician, author, and entrepreneur from Elmira, NY was recently elected as the Alt-Resident Representative to the Board of Directors at the NY State Academy of Family Physicians (NYSAFP). Dr. Ramsey will serve for one year on the board since his election by the Congress of Delegates in June, 2020.

The NYSAFP is the New York chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians and works to promote family medicine with medical students and improve family medicine practices overall. 

“I look forward to working with the board and everyone at the NYSAFP to represent what family medicine truly is,” says Dr. Ramsey. “I am humbled to also be a part of the Operations Commission as well as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce. I thank everyone who supported me and look forward to serving all the family physicians and students throughout our great state of NY.”

Dr. Ramsey currently works at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency. He has been particularly involved in academics, research and has had numerous articles and papers published. He has authored and edited dozens of articles for Radiopaedia. Prior to his current roles, he worked in education for several years, teaching courses such as human anatomy, physiology, biology, and chemistry at several universities including Upper Iowa University, Nunez Community College, and Delgado Community College. 

Dr. Ramsey received his MD from Avalon University School of Medicine. He did his undergraduate education in biology at the City College of New York and his basic sciences from Cairo University School of Medicine. Additionally, he was a neurosurgery research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. 

A distinguished scholar and presenter, over the years Dr. Ramsey has received numerous awards for his presentations including Best Delegate Representation at Queen’s National MUN Conference, Best Oral Presentation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and Best Delegate Award at Vienna International MUN Conference. Most recently, he participated in the 2020 AAFP Global Health Summit and the 2020 Family Medicine Experience with a poster presentation titled “Timeline in Pictures of Oral Aphthae as a Presenting Symptom for Behcet’s Disease”. 

When he’s not promoting family medicine, writing, or teaching Dr. Ramsey enjoys playing soccer, traveling and spending time with his family.
