The Collectors’ Museum of Contemporary Art, WHAT MUSEUM, operated by Warehouse TERRADA, is proud to announce its latest exhibition, “The Lens Within Your Heart,” featuring the remarkable Takeuchi Collection. This captivating exhibition, running since September 30, 2023, will continue to enthrall art enthusiasts and connoisseurs until February 25, 2024.
“The Lens Within Your Heart” exhibition is a unique opportunity to delve into the private collection of Shin Takeuchi, Director and CTO of Visional, Inc., an industry-leading figure in the IT world. This outstanding collection, curated over five years, encompasses a diverse array of contemporary artworks and furniture, offering a glimpse into the heart and soul of this visionary collector.
Shin Takeuchi’s collection features works by renowned artists emblematic of their respective eras, including Yves Klein and Gerhard Richter, as well as contemporary artists such as Wilhelm Sasnal, Jadé Fadojutimi, Izumi Kato, and Enrico Isamu Oyama. It represents an intricate tapestry of artistic expression, spanning generations and genres.
The exhibition showcases 33 carefully selected artworks, ranging from the inspirational Pablo Picasso to the iconic Yves Klein and Gerhard Richter. Visitors will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the design world with a stunning selection of furniture by architects like Le Corbusier, a pioneer of modern architecture. A dedicated space allows guests to experience the same harmony of furniture and art that Shin Takeuchi enjoys. Charlotte Perriand’s chairs invite visitors to sit back and appreciate the artwork.
One of the exhibition’s highlights is an installation featuring 21 chairs designed by Pierre Jeanneret, offering a unique perspective on each piece from various angles. This dynamic display adds an exciting dimension to the experience, showcasing the intersection of art and design.
In his collector’s note, Shin Takeuchi invites visitors to engage in a thought-provoking exploration: “Whenever I look at abstract art, I always contemplate why artists create such works as a result of viewing the world through the lens of their heart… I invite you to look at the artworks together and discuss what the lenses in the artists’ hearts may look like.”
