Immediately raising eyebrows StarConnect has vouched to be no different from your typical raffle website that gives away cars, electronics and cash prizes but in this case the prizes are dates and alone-time with highly desirable women? Of course, Starconnect does not claim to be selling sex they claim their real philosophy is to connect fans and influencers around the world in order to bridge collaboration and creative activities.
Essentially, we find ourselves looking at the mid 2000’s Porn trends of “F*ck-A-Fan” but perhaps executed in a more sophisticated and secure way whilst allowing the host to make, well a handsome sum of money.
For example, Lets say there is an Instagram influencer with a following of 500k, she posts an IG story telling her followers she’d like to meet one of them for a night of dining, a movie and then maybe some drinks (All expenses paid for) all they have to do to have the chance to meet her is spend $4 and enter a raffle. Let’s say only 25% of her following swarm over to StarConnect each buying one ticket …..That’s half a million in revenue, straight in the influencers pocket.
We could argue this is absolutely a win-win for all parties, but what about safety? According to StarConnect they then carry out a series of calls and stay with both parties every step of the way, right up until they are both about to meet and then carry out post-meet welfare checks.
What’s to say this is any more risky or dangerous than meeting someone randomer off of tinder? StarConnect is definitely breaking boundaries, and is certainly unique but it could just be the next biggest trend to swarm influencers within the online space.
