Lanzel Smith Jr. is a multi-industry mogul and philanthropist that has founded businesses such as Zel Entertainment and The Versatile and Valued Society. Through collaboration, he has created and designed for 300 Entertainment, LoveRenaissance (LVRN), Netflix, Tyler Perry Productions, Disney, and Marvel.

In his latest project, READY (a short film directed by Cristian Kaigler), Lanzel Smith Jr. takes the role of pop artist and superhero, The Adventures of DJ Zel. This film features DJ Zel being immersed in a dual world existence where there is little to no difference between virtual and reality. Through it all, he is ready for all the adventures this new world can offer. The film also features the resurrection of the musical genre, “Drill”. By combining elements of reggae and hip hop, The Adventures of DJ Zel aims to add his own spin to the subgenre dubbed “Dancehall Drill”.
Jamaica deejays, such as Skillibeng, Vybz Kartel, and Tommy Lee Sparta have inspired The Adventures of DJ Zel. The film’s soundtrack features production by upcoming producer, Yncmadeit and Grammy-nominated producer, MTech Music.
As a Millennial Renaissance Man, Lanzel has been paving his way as one of this generation’s most versatile producers. Zel’s advice to young creators is “In order to succeed, you have to keep innovating, stay versatile, and never settle. However, you won’t really understand the true meaning of success until you fail a couple of times: so, don’t be afraid to take risks, be consistent, and keep the same energy you started with.” With that being said, Zel is constantly looking to the future.
